Solstice Series 2020

Interested in doing yoga at home, but don’t know where to start? Join me for a 6-class series running throughout the month of December, where I’ll teach you how to build your own at-home yoga practice. Some things we will learn include:

  • Sun Salutations A & B
  • Breathing Techniques
  • Warrior 1 & 2 sequences
  • Structure of a yoga class
  • Sanskrit names of yoga poses

You will get worksheets that can serve as “cheat sheets” or reminders to you as you work on your home practice. The goal is to get you proficient enough at yoga throughout these 6 classes to be able to do your own practice at home, in a structure similar to one of my vinyasa classes. The series will culminate on the winter solstice, where we will put all of the pieces together into a full vinyasa class. The goal of each class is listed below, but we will do other things during our 75 minutes together as well, so you’ll get to do more than just Sun Salutation A on day 1! I encourage you to spend a few minutes revisiting the previous worksheets before we begin the next class, as a refresher of what we’ve learned already, and to serve as building blocks for what we’ll learn next.

The series costs $65 and covers the 6 core classes, as well as two additional optional classes: a full moon flow on Friday 12/18, and a full mala flow (108 salutations) on Friday, 1/1. When you register here, please note that it looks like you’re only registering for the first class, but it’s in fact registering you for the entire series! The classes will run 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, December 2, 2020
    • Goal: Learn Sun Salutation A
    • Give: Worksheet including Sun Salutation A and its Sanskrit words
  • Monday, December 7, 2020
    • Goal: Learn Sun Salutation B
    • Give: Worksheet including Sun Salutation B and its Sanskrit words
  • Wednesday, December 9, 2020
    • Goal: Put together both sun salutations
  • Monday, December 14, 2020
    • Goal: Learn Warrior 2 in a small flow, Learn Goddess in a small flow
    • Give: Worksheet including Warrior 2 and Goddess flows and their Sanskrit words
  • Wednesday, December 16, 2020
    • Goal: Learn Breath of Joy, Low Lunge Flow
    • Give: Worksheet including Breath of Joy, Low Lunge flow and their Sanskrit words
  • OPTIONAL: Friday, December 18, 2020 (Full Moon Flow)
    • Goal: Moon Salutations and inversion practice
    • Give: Worksheet including Moon Salutation, inversions and their Sanskrit words
  • Monday, December 21, 2020 – Happy Solstice!
    • Goal: Put it all together!
    • Give: Worksheet of the entire flow we do for this class – you can do it again any time after this with the help of your worksheets!
  • OPTIONAL: Friday, January 1, 2020 (Full Mala Flow – 108 Salutations)
